The only target you hit is the one you're aiming at.
That statement is true for all of us. It came to me the other day, as I was planning and strategizing to finish 2021 strong, that one area of my life was off target. I didn't realize it at first, then it became so obvious to me. My mind was focused in one direction, but my heart and intention was in another. There is a saying out there, where the mind goes, the man follows. That's exactly what was happening to me! And as I mentioned I was planning and strategizing to finish this year strong because I knew something was out of alignment. It ended up being a small change in my thinking and perspective, and then the target to line up with my heart and intention became very clear. One thing I know, if this is happening to me, I know it's happening to you. We all go through the same or similar processes of learning, its just a matter of time when we do. Here are a couple of ways you can do a quick analysis of what you're aiming at.
- What do you think about the most? What you think about the most is what you're aiming at. Common area's that consume people's thoughts is, their health, finances, jobs/careers, relationships, lack of relationships, kids, marriage... to name a few. Now that you are aware of what you are thinking about the most, is it in line with what your heart and intention want? Success happens when you line your mind up with your heart.
- What makes you feel alive when you're doing it, or talking about it? This is something you may need family and friends to help you out with. Pay attention to what gives you an increase in energy and enthusiasm. Some examples of this would be, cooking, hunting, writing, wood working, photography, theatre. If you're unsure, ask your friends and family what they think makes you come more alive versus what drains you. This will give you some insight in the direction you should be aiming your target.
- When you do something you wish you weren't doing, what is the opposite of what you're doing? Let me give an example of this. If you are someone who yells a lot, and you wish you didn't, the opposite of that would be to commuincate nicer. Or if you spend to much money on stuff you don't actually need, the opposite would be to follow a budget and buy what you actually need and can afford. These are examples of what your target needs to be. This requires consistant focus on the target you want to hit, not the current behaviour. You have the ability to create the change you want in you.
The answers to these questions will give you greater understanding of yourself and what you're aiming at and why. Your answers will give you better understanding in the direction you want your life to go, so that you can focus your thoughts and attentions on the target you want to hit.
